The Kemper Foundation’s Community Impact
We’re proud to share highlights of The Kemper Foundation’s community impact and how we’ve advanced our mission.
Within our inaugural Community Impact Report, you’ll learn about the $3.3 million collective impact we’ve made in our communities in the areas of education, health and community development, Kemper’s philanthropic programs and initiatives; and the generous volunteer contributions made by Kemper employees.
At Kemper, our job is to deliver on the promises we make. That’s true not only for our customers, but also for our communities.
Through The Kemper Foundation, we provide donations of time and resources to serve, support and strengthen our communities so we can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Our three areas of focus are education, health and community development.
Education
We inspire and empower people of all ages to achieve their full potential and help develop the next generation of leaders.
Health
We accelerate research, address patient and caregiver needs, and advance medical and disease education in partnership with leading organizations.
Community Development
We support organizations improving access to food and housing and advancing civil rights and advocacy for underserved Americans.
Kemper Cares
Kemper Cares is our employee volunteer program that enables our Kemper team members to engage with our partner organizations locally and support our efforts through volunteerism, donations and matching gifts. Some of our national nonprofit partner organizations aligned with our three pillars include the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and JDRF.
Read Conmigo
ADVANCING BILINGUAL LITERACY FOR LATINO STUDENTS
In 2022, The Kemper Foundation announced its commitment to support bilingual (Spanish-English) elementary education teachers and their students through Read Conmigo, a new grant program for K-5 teachers in bilingual classroom settings. We will annually award 100 grants of $3,000 to teachers to support their bilingual learning environments. Advancing The Kemper Foundation’s mission to make a meaningful difference in our communities, the program aims to provide needed tools, resources and supplies for the classroom, and professional development opportunities for teachers.

Kemper Scholars Program
DEVELOPING THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS
Since 1948, the Kemper Scholars Program has been preparing college students for leadership and service in the business world. The program has awarded over 2,000 scholarships to help students develop into strong leaders with rewarding careers. Today, the Kemper Scholars Program has evolved to provide need-based scholarships, mentoring, and career navigation resources to assist high potential, diverse college students with a strong interest in insurance and financial services careers.
In 2022, The Kemper Foundation announced it was committing $4.5 million to the next generation of its Kemper Scholars Program. The program will award 650 scholarships over the next five years to high-achieving, diverse college students at 10 universities, including six Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs). The program also provides financial grants to professors pursuing academic initiatives and to on-campus diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) programs. In addition, The Kemper Foundation will partner with Kemper Corporation to offer over 325 internships to partner schools over the next five years.
